Martini, the most refined drink in the world

Sure there are good beers, strong tequilla and vodka to put hair on your chest, but how can you be a real alcoholic without looking like one? What is the best way to enjoy huge amounts of alcohol and still have class?

Gin is preferred. Cold as you can get it. I keep mine in the freezer. Use a GLASS shaker if you are to shake. Metal fucks with the Gin. Mix in a SMALL bit of extra dry vermouth (like a few drops), pack it with ice to the top. Add a small amount of olive brine to taste (dirty). Shake well. Pour in cold glass. Garnish with olives.

I suggest (however expensive) Hendricks Gin. It's the best out there that I can find, and kills Bombay or Beefeater. You need top shelf gin for a martini. Getting drunk in style takes money and you're drinking straight alcohol. BTW, three of these get me trashed. Four.... well I'm smart enough not to try four. Don't count these like beers. They are strong as shit.

How would you compare this to Long Island Ice Tea, for example? It's well-known as one of the strongest cocktails in the bar, but it still takes me five huge glasses of it to really get me wasted, because I have a high tolerance.

Do you think this gin Martini is stronger than a Long Island Ice Tea?

LIIT has coke in it, which while it isn't much... waters it down. It's a strong drink, and I think it's mainly known for being 'good and strong' because it doesn't taste specifically like alcohol, but will kick your ass if you are small and drink too many. A poor martini will taste like alcohol and be undrinkable, however a great martini won't taste like alcohol, but will kick your ass.

Also I must mention, just because you CAN put anything in a Cocktail glass does not make it a martini; contrary to popular belief at many bars. They do so because people will pay between 9-14 for a "Martini", but only 7 for a drink in a rocks or highball glass. Fucking stupid if you ask me. I must say also that it's the bitches faults for wanting so many 'girlie' drinks that are basically just a LITTLE rum or vodka mixed with a ton of fruit juice. Then some bitch put it in a cocktail glass and called it a martini. It's not a martini. I don't even think you can make a martini out of Vodka, but i'll accept that one because James Bond accepts that as a Martini. I wouldn't accept him on that accept he gets more fine pussy than everyone on this board combined.

One of my friends hadn't tried a good martini before and tried one of mine that I had at one point. I think he expected a strong gin/alcohol taste, however he was like "wow... it tastes like... crisp water... almost like nothing... the cold, olives, gin and vermouth cancel each other out"... yep.

Oh, if you have shitty Gin, add more Vermouth. That's what they did in the 20's when it was just bathtub Gin
