I am sort of Christian, in that I believe that there is one God and his son Jesus came to Earth and whatnot, but I disagree with a lot of things in The Bible. Also, I find nearly all that I have read of it to be contradictory of other parts.

::)If you read some other theories you would find God and Jesus also are stolen from the pagan beliefs along with all the stories in the bible.

I am not a Christian, although I was raised very much in the Lutheran Church so I am fairly knowledgable on the subject. I enjoy religious discussions greatly.

Heh, the Lutheran Church. I can attribute my near-atheism to my grandmother's hardcore Lutheran beliefs and her disapproval of anyone who does not follow the words of the Bible to the point. She almost had a heart attack when I told her that my mother had raised me Catholic and that the only times I've communicated with God were on the fourth plateau of DXM. If I had a dollar every time my grandmother told me that I was a sinner who was going on the quick road to hell...
Needless to say, I no longer speak to her anymore. Come to think of it, neither does her son, my father.

The ELCA (evangelical lutheran church of america) is much more lenient and welcoming. They are becoming bigger, and when I was in 9th grade I actually attended an ELCA National Youth convention in St. Louis. I had a blast honestly.

Yeah, church-sponsored youth conventions can be fun, especially the one my aunt had me (me, the not-very-religious-person, ha!) help her with back when I was in Indiana. Heh, we had sleepovers and watched a bunch of movies like Sliver and Total Recall and then discussed how they related to our relationships with God. It was actually a lot of fun and even though I don't consider myself to be a Lutheran I really wouldn't mind doing it again.

Awww, tell us about them, I think letting out a few youth group horror stories to us would alleviate the pain!

Funnily enough..The only time I've actually had fun in a group situation was also in Youth Group..........although they had this thing with trying to secretly convert me....
Hmm...never worked...
Good times though...
But those stupid...big..."rallys" that they had sucked so bad...They'd advertise fun for all...Then it would be just a big 'Lets all convert everyone' thing...
Why can't they have like...Buddhist Youth Groups? That would be fun...

Personally I'd prefer a "Borgia Popes' Version of Catholicism" youth group, myself. Drinking and merry-making fun for all!

I have a hard time standing most Catholics - namely, those who
a) go totally overboard with being strict as heck and expecting you to be the same and being positive they're right and you're wrong and looking down on you and believing for sure you're going to hell even if you're like another type of Christian or whatever, and
b) the ones who say they are Catholic, just because they were baptised into it when they were babies. They don't follow it and they certainly don't beleive it, but they do the sign of the cross everywhere quite reverently and they know about rosary beads and other little superstitious symbols of the sort and think they're cute.
The second kind pisses me more. If you're gonna say you believe something, and are something, then don't just frickin' say it!
I don't know, I'll shut up about Catholics now because I know there are people like that in every church. It's just that I notice it most with Catholics.
Hehe, you guys should see Baptists. If I'm anything, I'm a Baptist. They tickle my wenis so hard. Apart from being nice people (mostly) they crack me up. And USUALLY they are what they say they are. I can admire that.
